In an interview with Khaneh Mellat, Rouhollah Nejabat, referring to the recent visit of Syrian officials to the United States, said:
“The Middle East and West Asia have been attractive to hegemonic powers over the past half-century due to their geopolitical conditions and vast energy resources. These powers will not abandon the region unless their proxy forces gain dominance, as their primary goal is the exploitation of the region’s wealth and resources.”
The representative of Shiraz and Zarqan in the Islamic Consultative Assembly added:
“In addition to this objective, the United States seeks to secure lasting stability for the criminal Israeli regime. While the existence of this regime is in danger and it is sinking into a quagmire of collapse, the U.S. is attempting to rescue Tel Aviv.”
He stressed:
“The presence of the United States in the region has never benefited regional nations; it has always brought war and plunder. I advise the new Syrian authorities to heed this historical experience and to respect the demands and will of the Syrian people, as they are the true owners of the country.”
